If by automatically you mean default, then no, you need to give planet
an -x argument or run expunge by itself.

The way expunge operates isn't by age but by entry count: It keeps a
number of entries for each feed source (default is 10), but you can
increase it planet-wide or per feed with cache_keep_entries.
